Reincarnation: Yukino Yukinoshita Is My Childhood Sweetheart

Chapter 6: The Clear Gaze of Yui Yuigahama

On his way to the clubroom, Haru found himself deep in thought about what had just happened.

It seems that fighting—or maybe I should call it "battling"—yields a decent amount of experience points. And the best part? It levels up two skills at once.

This discovery intrigued him.

Back when he was a kid helping Yukino resolve her bullying issues, he'd gotten into more than his fair share of fights.

But at that time, he didn't have access to his skill panel.

Now that the system had officially activated on his 16th birthday, he hadn't really been in many fights since.

The last time I turned the tables on those three bullies, the scene was chaotic. Too many onlookers, too much happening at once. Between maintaining order and watching for sneak attacks, I didn't have time to notice any changes in my experience points.

But this time, he paid attention.

With just a single counterattack, he earned experience for both [Fitness] and [Fighting].

An idea began forming in his mind.

When Haru arrived at the clubroom, Yukinoshita Yukino was already waiting for him.

"What happened near the sports field just now?"

It was clear Yukino had caught wind of the commotion.

"Those three from last time came to provoke me again. It's handled now," haru replied nonchalantly.

Hearing this, a flicker of anger flashed in Yukino's eyes, but she quickly masked it.

She nodded, motioning toward the clubroom with a tilt of her chin. "There's a cute girl waiting for you inside."

Haru blinked, momentarily stunned.

When he stepped inside, he understood who Yukino had referred to.

Seated obediently on a chair was Yuigahama Yui, her posture both reserved and slightly uneasy.

Two other club members sat nearby, flipping through books, though their primary focus as members of the Photography Club had always been on how to take flattering photos of themselves.

"Amamiya-kun," Yui greeted, standing up immediately. Her adorable face was tinged with both nervousness and anticipation.

Haru glanced at Yukino, whose expression remained calm, then turned back to Yui. "Did you need something, Yuigahama-san?"

Yui nodded vigorously, her bright eyes glimmering. "Um… I want to join the Photography Club."

"You're interested in photography?" Yu asked, slightly surprised.

"Not really… but I'll work hard!" she replied with a nervous smile.

Her response drew giggles from the other two club members. "President, we told you your charm is undeniable. If you'd used your ikemen appeal earlier, the club would be packed by now!"

Haru chuckled. "I'll only use that card as a last resort."

"Why?"

"Because the ultimate move is always saved for the endgame."

"Pfft! So your 'ultimate move' is your good looks?"

Yuigahama watched the lighthearted banter with a faint sense of wonder.

This atmosphere… I really envy it.

She smiled softly to herself, thinking, Coming here was the right choice.

What she didn't realize was that Yukino had been quietly observing her all along.

Nice figure, a cute face. Her unbuttoned collar might come across as a bit frivolous, but oddly, she seems rather reserved.

Yukino's sharp mind quickly assessed the situation. A faint aura of Tamamo-no-Mae.

Normally, Yukino wouldn't concern herself with such details. But with a certain someone present—and this particular girl aiming for his attention—she couldn't afford to ignore it.

Yukino prided herself on knowing her own strengths: her looks, her toned waist and long legs, and her dedication to fitness. Aside from her chest, she had no flaws.

Not that she considered her smaller chest a flaw. After all, she knew Yu wasn't the type to care about such superficial things.

Still, Yuigahama's arrival served as a subtle reminder.

Even if Yuigahama wasn't a worthy rival, her presence suggested there might be others in the future.

Haru, on the other hand, didn't dwell too much on Yui's joining the club.

Thanks to his keen observation, he could tell her visit wasn't driven by affection. Given her personality in the original story, he had a good guess about her intentions.

After helping Yui fill out the application form, Haru turned to Yukino and shared his earlier thought. "Do you think the Karate Club would get hostile if I asked to spar with them?"

Yukino raised an eyebrow. "Why would you want to spar with them?"

"Keeping fit has always been my habit, and I'm interested in learning various combat techniques," haru replied casually.

Yukino, aware of her childhood friend's fitness obsession, didn't question it further.

"If you approach them politely and explain your reason, I doubt they'd feel offended," she suggested after a moment's thought.

From behind, Yui leaned in curiously. "Amamiya-kun, are you good at fighting?"

She wasn't eavesdropping intentionally—the clubroom was small, and Haru and Yukino hadn't tried to lower their voices.

Haru nodded slightly. "A little."

Yui's eyes sparkled. "Then maybe you could go easy on them if you're stronger. That way, you won't hurt their pride."

"That's a good idea," haru acknowledged, mentally noting her suggestion.

Yui beamed, pleased by his approachable demeanor. Compared to her classroom, this club already felt more welcoming.

Though… Yukino's occasional sharp glances were a bit unsettling.

Before long, Haru began inspecting the club's photography equipment—most of it purchased with his own money.

At this school, only clubs that contributed to society or won awards in competitions received a decent budget. Photography was an expensive passion, as one famous photographer once said: "To master the art, you need both skills and money."

"Do you have any experience with photography?" haru asked Yui.

She shook her head sheepishly.

"That's fine. I'll start by teaching you the basics of lens language.," haru reassured her.

"lens language.?" Yui tilted her head, her gaze untainted by knowledge—a clear and curious expression.

Haru smiled faintly and glanced out the window. "The sunlight's just right. Let's head outside for a hands-on lesson."

Turning to Yukino, he asked, "Could you assist for a moment?"

Before Yukino could reply, the other two girls chimed in. "President, we can be your models too!"

"It's not modeling, just simple cooperation," haru clarified.

"Got it, we'll watch seriously!"

The playful tone vanished as the girls straightened up, ready to assist. Yukino, though observing quietly, felt no annoyance. She appreciated their willingness to help and the effort they put into learning.

Outside, with the equipment set up, Yukino stepped into the frame.

Haru didn't rush to activate the camera. Instead, he began explaining the fundamentals to Yui, his voice calm and patient.

[You are teaching. Teaching Experience +9.]

The experience gain was minimal—unsurprising, given Yui's lack of aptitude.

No wonder her gaze is so clear, Haru amused rather than frustrated.

Tiny gains were still gains.

After the explanation, Haru finally turned on the camera and directed Yukino. "Walk in from the right. Do whatever feels natural as you move."

Though his instructions were vague, their unspoken understanding allowed Yukino to grasp his intent immediately.

"Understood."

As Yukino began moving, the other girls watched in awe.

The warm sunlight bathed her in a golden glow, highlighting her graceful figure. Her long black hair swayed gently in the breeze, her skirt fluttering just enough to accentuate her elegant, toned legs.

"Wow… Yukino is stunning," Yui murmured, mesmerized.

Behind the camera, Yu couldn't help but praise her. "Amazing, as expected of Yukino. You bring out the best angles effortlessly."

Yukino heard him and smiled faintly.

But then Haru added with a tinge of regret, "If only we had professional lighting equipment. Natural sunlight isn't quite enough."

"Why? Isn't this already beautiful?" Yui asked, puzzled.

"Because," Yukino interjected, "he probably wants blue light."

Haru smiled at her deduction. "Exactly."

Yui tilted her head, still confused. "Why blue?"

Yukino explained, "Sunlight evokes warmth, fitting for the youthful energy of someone my age. Blue light conveys calmness, which Yu believes reflects my personality. Together, they create a layered narrative within the shot."

Haru elaborated, "Blue also symbolizes rationality and, in some contexts, melancholy. If I were to seriously shoot this scene, I'd dim the blue light just enough to make it subtle—an undertone, rather than an overt statement."

"Why?"

"To hint at the hidden aspects of Yukino's personality," Haru said matter-of-factly.

[You are teaching. Teaching Experience +79.]

Yui stared at him, stunned. "Wow… I had no idea photography could be so deep."

"It's all about practice," haru replied, smiling.

Yukino nodded thoughtfully. "Admitting your shortcomings is the first step toward improvement."

Haru chuckled, knowing how seriously Yukino took her own advice.

Looking at Yui, he asked, "Do you feel the beauty of lens language now?"

Yui blinked, clearly overwhelmed. "Uh… uh… kinda?"
