RWBY: Ascent

Chapter 3: An... Interesting Start

-----------------------------------------------------------------One Month Later-------------------------------------------------------------------

You know, after adapting to all the skills I've gained over this past month, I've only got one thing to say. Holy crap Sukuna was a monster. I've just been practicing his fighting skills and getting used to his strength and speed and I'm already pretty sure I'd be considered a top tier hunter in this world. When it comes to fighting, his skills were unmatched. I spent a good while fighting some lower level grimm like beowolves in the forest on the outskirts of Vale, and they weren't a match for me at all. All of their movements were so slow and easy to read to me. My body instinctually crushed them without effort. Same went for the poor thugs that tried to rob me one time on my way to work.

Apparently these thugs had been going around the poorer parts of Vale recently and robbed a lot of people. They'd been getting away with it since apparently two of them were huntsman school dropouts and had aura plus some fighting skills. Despite that, when they cornered me for my money, I absolutely annihilated them. It wasn't even a fair fight. I read each of their moves perfectly and broke their auras with two hits each. After laying them out, I decided to take the money they had on them and give an anonymous call to the police on where they were.

I know I'm raving about Sukuna's fighting skills, well my fighting skills now, but I mean it when I say I feel like there's not a single fighter I can think of from RWBY who outclasses me in terms of combat capability. Not to mention my strength and speed. One afternoon I decided to fully test out my physical attributes in the forest, and let's just say that area is not in one piece anymore.

My speed easily outclasses even Ruby's. I can traverse most of Vale and the forest within seconds. I'm just guessing when I say my speed is around hypersonic. When it comes to reaction speed though, that's another thing entirely. There hasn't been a single thing so far that I've been unable to react to. Whether it be grimm attacks, bullets, or even dust explosions which I was able to test out with some dust I nabbed from the shop after asking the old man. Safe to say I can react to pretty much anything out there. Now as for my strength, I'm most definitely the physically strongest person I know in the RWBY universe.

I can crush trees with a single finger. I can total a short area of the forest in front of me with a single punch. I'm also pretty sure I could level multiple buildings with just punches alone. Seriously, my strength is absolutely no joke. I guess that's the King of Curses for you. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to land a black flash yet. I've figured out how to enhance myself with cursed energy and even aura. It was pretty easy. But no matter how many grimm I fight, I just can't seem to land one. It's not like I need to though, since I still have Sukuna's experience and know what it feels like to land one. My comprehension of cursed energy is insanely high because of that. Despite that, I do still want to feel what it's like to actually land one myself instead of having the knowledge of what one feels like. Oh well, I guess that'll just happen on it's own eventually. Right now, it's about time I start getting familiar with Sukuna's abilities.

-----------------------------------------------------------------Two Months Later-----------------------------------------------------------------

There is... nothing I can say to describe the amount of power at my finger tips. What in the world have I become? Sukuna truly is a king. There's no other title more fitting for him. He's a king. That's the only explanation for how much power he possesses.

I first started off by experimenting with cleave and dismantle, his two main abilities. Dismantle allows me to send invisible slashes at anything I target. Cleave allows me to essentially bypass anything's durability and slice it to pieces as long as I touch it. Usually cleave would adjust itself based on something's cursed energy level, but since I'm the only person who has cursed energy in this world it automatically adjusts according to their aura levels instead. Every person in the world has aura, it's just that hunters are the only ones with aura brought out fully and are able to control it.

When I first used these techniques, it was astounding. I don't believe I'll ever really need cleave in most situations because dismantle alone is enough. When I launched my first dismantle, an entire clearing of the forest was eviscerated. I didn't even try for that one either. When I then tested it on some grimm, I split an ursa in two with just one dismantle.

Cleave... well cleave is just something else entirely. Despite cleave adjusting to aura usually, it also works on grimm for some reason. I don't know if it's because they're made of darkness and it adjusts to that as well, but it works all the same. During one of my regular training sessions in the forest, I ran into a king taijitu while hunting some grimm. I fought it for a little bit and tried out a light dismantle. It's head armor was shattered instantly. After that dismantle, I went in and placed a palm on the underside of one of the heads. When I first said the word, it felt like the world around me just stopped and stared for a moment.

Cleave

That was the fight. That was it. The moment I said that word the king taijitu's fate was sealed. Not even a moment later after I said that word did the king taijitu's entire body explode right in front of me from thousands of slices ripping it apart. A dangerous grimm not recommended for hunters to ever fight alone, one shot just like that. The moment was... mind boggling to say the least.

I took a break for the rest of the day after that. I really had to contemplate just how much power was in my hands now. I knew if I didn't maintain focus and keep a lid on myself properly, I could lose control and no one would be able to stop me.

The next day I went out to a rocky cliffside and began to test out my other abilities. The first on the list was fully enhancing my strikes with cursed energy. Let's just say half of that cliffside is gone now. After that little experiment with my strength, I chanted and used one of the abilities I found to be the coolest from Sukuna. His divine flames. I chanted Fuga and then summoned forth the flames. Aiming with a slightly elevated angle, I released the flame arrow I created and watched it soar. It completely obliterated everything in sight. The entire mountainside was reduced to molten rocks and absolute destruction. If I hadn't aimed a bit up so that my arrow went into the sky, I think I would have created the biggest crater on Remnant.

That experience left me reeling for another day just like cleave did. I have no idea how hot Sukuna's flames are, but considering they overpowered Jogo's when he was at only fifteen fingers, I'd say they're probably the hottest thing on the planet.

The next day I tested out the last thing I needed to for Sukuna's abilities. His domain expansion. This time I traveled pretty far from Vale and out to a wide open clearing with nothing in sight. It was there that I found out what being a king really meant.

Domain Expansion: MALEVOLENT SHRINE

Silence...

Then, the world around me erupted.

From me expanded a domain of terrifying energy. The range was enormous. All the while I stood in the middle of. The feeling was, intoxicating to say the least.

"Hahhh... hahhh... I've never felt... SO ALIVE!!! HAHAHAHA!!! SO THIS IS WHAT IT MEANS!!! WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A KING! EVERYTHING IN MY DOMAIN IS MINE TO RULE! MINE TO DESTROY! AHAHAHA!"

Yeah... not my proudest moment. But I can't be blamed for it. At that moment I truly felt like a king. Everything in the expanse of my domain was under my control. The moment I started to actively use my domain's effect, the area started to be eviscerated. Slashes being created every which way, craters forming everywhere. After I was done, that area I had found looked like Shibuya 2.0. Just a crater, nothing else left.

After that day I decided I really needed to practice these abilities more and get a hold on them, otherwise I might start tweaking out and acting like Sukuna. So for the rest of the month I decided to hone every single one of Sukuna's abilities while still also practicing my fighting skills. Although, the darndest thing happened one night near the end of the month.

I was casually hopping across some rooftops after a shift at work ended early cause the old man wanted to set up a new area for some more dust he was selling. While hopping over an alley I happened to see what I consider to be the most hilarious sight ever. Some dumbass thug with a knife threatening to rob a girl. Who was that girl you might ask? Well they had pink and brown hair along with two different colored eyes. You tell me.

That's right, it was Neo. Neo freaking Politan. And some random dude had picked her to try and rob. God, I can't believe how bad this dude's luck was. Welp, considering I didn't think the man deserved to get his innards stabbed just for robbing someone, I hopped down and landed on the dude's back, crushing him into the ground and soundly knocking him out.

"Hey there, need some help miss?"
