RWBY: Ascent

"You doing okay? This dude here is one of the typical thugs you get around these parts. You really should be more careful."

Neo's eyes had widened a bit when I first landed on the dude in front of her. However, the moment I started talking to her she got this strange grin on her face and nodded towards me. She gave me thumbs up and nodded when I asked if she was alright.

"Not much of a talker huh? You mute or anything like that? If so that sucks. Man, I really should've learned some sign language."

That comment seemed to get Neo to giggle silently as I watched her prod the man underneath me with her parasol. She then poked me on the shoulder and motioned something with her hands.

"Huh? You want something miss?"

She nodded then started dragging me out of the alley, leaving the dude I landed on alone on the floor.

"Hey now wait a minute, where the heck are we going?"

Neo appeared to signal that she wanted to grab something to eat with me. Knowing who she was, I had a pretty good guess as to what I should suggest we eat.

"You wanna go grab some ice cream or something?"

The moment I said the words "ice cream" she immediately started shaking her head rapidly and started tugging me along even faster. I've gotta say, she sure is strong for her small stature. After a few minutes we ended up in front of a little diner.

"I'm assuming they serve ice cream here?"

She nodded then went inside while dragging me along. We grabbed a table in the corner and a waitress came by to ask us what we'd like to have. I asked her for a cookies and cream milkshake while Neo eagerly pointed to something on the menu.

"Neapolitan ice cream huh? Fits you perfectly."

Neo turned towards me with a slight grin and winked at me like I had said something funny. To be fair, it probably was funny to her since she doesn't know I know her name yet.

"You know, I never even got your name before you dragged me over here to get ice cream."

After I said that, Neo simply chuckled silently before pointing at herself and then at the ice cream that just came out for us. She then lifted up three fingers.

"Your name is Neapolitan but three? Is your name Neo? That's a pretty cool name. Mine's Ryze."

She excitedly nodded and then started gesturing something else. It took me a bit to figure out what she was trying to say, but eventually I guessed what it was.

"Are you wondering how I took out that dude back in the alley?"

Neo nodded and motioned for me to explain.

"Well it was pretty easy. It was just some dumbass thug. Plus, I got aura and I'm planning to head to Beacon in about a month. How about you? How come you were wandering around in dark places like that alone at night?"

The moment I asked that a mischievous glint appeared in her eye as a sign appeared in her hand with the words "I got my own tricks too" written on it.

"A semblance? You've got your aura unlocked then, huh? I guess that guy wouldn't have been much of a problem for you either then."

Neo shook her head no and started digging into her ice cream. I've gotta say, as I watched her eat her ice cream while I drank my milkshake, I was shocked to see her scarf it down so fast despite being so small. Once we both finished, I offered to pay for the two desserts. Neo happily let me and we walked out of the diner.

"Well, it was nice meeting you Neo but I gotta head back home since it's getting pretty late."

Neo nodded in agreement but first pointed at my pocket and mimicked calling someone.

"You want my scroll? Yeah sure, here you go. You need to call someone or something?"

 Neo shook her head and just handed me back my scroll. Saved on it was her number. As I looked up to question her, she placed a quick kiss on my cheek before her figure shattered like glass and vanished into thin air.

"Well, that was something. Didn't expect to meet one of the characters from the show already. Especially not Neo of all people. Welp, anyways time to head back home. I want to start practicing with my lightning manipulation soon. Let's hope it's as versatile as I think it is."
