Chapter 152: Chapter 153: A New Kind of Jenga
"The ones bathed in light are the sinners, while the Judges who claim to represent rules and justice hide themselves in darkness. They even go so far as to shield their faces, fearing their true forms might be remembered by those very sinners…"
"A pitiful bunch of self-deluded, cowardly rats and puppets scurrying in the shadows. Their disgraceful antics are truly revolting to behold."
"What a shame. I had initially planned to invite you, Makoto, to witness this scene. Alas, it seems you have your own schemes involving Yoruichi Shihouin. Otherwise, you would surely laugh at this farce, wouldn't you?"
Aizen's voice was calm, but the disdain and scorn in his gaze were almost impossible to conceal.
Tosen listened silently, his fists clenched tightly as waves of killing intent emanated from him.
Although the Central 46 weren't directly responsible for the death of the person he cherished, their corrupt and decayed system, the cornerstone of the Soul Society's upper echelon, had ensured that justice was never served. To this day, the true culprit roamed free.
This hypocrisy became even more evident during the current "Hollowfication Incident." The Central 46 granted Yoruichi Shihouin, a head of one of the Four Great Noble Houses, special treatment, while decreeing that the other Hollowfied Shinigami were to be immediately purified and destroyed.
This blatant disparity reopened the deepest wounds in Tosen's heart, igniting his desire to draw his blade and annihilate these so-called "Judges" who dared to preach justice while wallowing in corruption.
"Do not act rashly, Tosen," Aizen spoke, sensing his comrade's rising emotions. His voice was measured, as if effortlessly soothing the storm.
"The Central 46 are nothing more than puppets manipulated by the noble houses. Killing these figureheads would accomplish nothing. So long as the nobles' entrenched power and status remain unshaken, they can always install another set of puppets to replace them."
Tosen nodded slowly. "Understood, Lord Aizen. I trust that your path will one day sweep away those so-called nobles entirely."
Hearing this, Aizen smiled faintly, his gaze shifting to the center of the courtroom where Kisuke stood, bound.
Amidst the questioning from the judges of the Central 46, Urahara Kisuke, Tessai Tsukabishi, and Hachigen Ushoda continued to defend themselves, attempting to argue their case. Yet, under the influence of Aizen's Zanpakuto, Kyoka Suigetsu, their words and evidence fell on deaf ears. To the Central 46, it was as if they stood in complete silence.
Even without Aizen's interference, the trial itself was clearly a mere formality—a facade designed to justify a predetermined verdict handed down by the nobility.
After all, in the hierarchy of the Soul Society, "serious matters are settled in secret meetings; minor matters are discussed publicly." This immutable rule ensured that the outcome of such trials was always predetermined.
"The Kido Corps chief, Tessai Tsukabishi, and Vice-chief, Hachigen Ushoda, are hereby convicted of aiding Urahara Kisuke in conducting forbidden Hollowfication experiments. For unauthorized use of prohibited spatial Kido techniques, they are sentenced to the removal of their positions and spiritual powers and exiled to the Human World."
"As for the Twelfth Division Captain, Urahara Kisuke, for conducting unethical Hollowfication experiments, endangering multiple captains and Shinigami, and harming the head of the Shihouin clan, Yoruichi Shihouin, he is sentenced to public execution to serve as a warning to the Soul Society."
The moment these words were spoken, the expressions of Kisuke, Tessai, and Hachigen visibly darkened.
"Furthermore, the sentence is to be carried out immediately!"
Before the presiding judge could finish speaking, the courtroom doors burst open with a resounding crash. A cloaked figure, shrouded entirely in black, stormed in, interrupting the proceedings.
"Who dares?!"
"Such audacity! How dare you trespass into this solemn courtroom?"
"Guards! Where are the guards? Apprehend this madman at once!"
Panic spread like wildfire among the Judges, their composure unraveling in an instant. Their demeanor—utterly unbefitting of their lofty titles—was chaotic and disgraceful.
Ignoring the outraged cries of the Central 46, the cloaked figure moved with precision, landing beside Urahara and the others. With a swift slash of their short blade, the bindings were severed.
"Go!"
The voice beneath the black cloak was unmistakably that of Yoruichi. Recognizing the signal, Kisuke quickly regained his composure and, along with Tessai and Hachigen, followed her as they fled.
By the time the group vanished from the courtroom, the sages of the Central 46 were left in stunned silence.
"Such insolence! To defy the authority of the Central 46—this is an affront unseen for centuries!"
"Contact Captain-Commander Yamamoto immediately! We must capture this criminal—"
"Wait! I think I saw the Shihouin family crest on that cloak. Could it be… Lady Yoruichi?"
The room fell deathly silent, the Judges frozen as a collective wave of realization swept over them. Their thoughts mirrored the sentiment: What reason would the ruler have to rebel?
Meanwhile, Aizen observed the spectacle with mockery etched across his face. "What a farce. Let's go, Tosen."
"Yes, Lord Aizen."
---
Elsewhere, Makoto could sense the rapid movement of the "Seed of the Forest" he had planted in Yoruichi's body, signaling that she was heading towards his location. He quickened his pace, intending to complete the treatment of the injured Shinigami before she arrived.
After a burst of effort, Makoto managed to fully heal three female Shinigami and dressed them in their Shihakusho. He was about to begin treating the four male Shinigami when exhaustion overtook him.
Overestimating his stamina, Makoto felt a wave of dizziness as he attempted to move. His unsteady steps caused him to trip over himself, and he tumbled forward, landing atop the group of male Shinigami in a heap.
When Yoruichi and her group arrived in the underground chamber, the scene that greeted them was… unexpected.
There was Senju Makoto, sprawled across four half-dressed male Shinigami, tangled in what could only be described as a bizarre new form of Jenga.
"…?"
Urahara, Yoruichi, Tessai, and Hachigen stared in stunned silence.
(TL/N - I smell gay sh*t here)
