Survive as a Prison Guard in the Game

Chapter 71 - Terry the Poison Toad (1)

Chapter 71
Terry the Poison Toad (1)

“Redin.”

At Daylon’s urging, He pulled out the map he’d packed and laid it on the table. He unrolled it and placed a stone in the corners to secure it.

A map of the entirety of the Marne Forest.

During the height of the Oberg Empire, the Marne Forest had been a favorite vacation spot for the empire’s nobility.

Daylon pointed to a section of the map.

The center of the terrain, with a river to the left and a massive mountain range to the right.

This is where the nobles’ villas were located.

“This is the location of where we believe Terry is now, and I’ve seen the members of the Magnes organization standing guard around here.”

Seria nodded.

“Seems like a good place to hide, and with the river and mountains on either side, there are lots of potential escape routes in case they’re discovered.”

“I think so too, but we have to be careful, these guys aren’t here to hide, they’re here to find something.”

“What is that?”

Daylon’s gaze snapped to him.

His gaze demanded that he elaborate, so he opened his mouth.

“The Oberg Imperial Laboratory.”

“Laboratory?”

“A secret laboratory created by Emperor Rudkal of the Oberg Empire when he was at war with the Demon Church. Apparently, there were various experiments, some of which were powerful enough to blow up a kingdom.”

Seria tilted her head as if she didn’t understand.

“It’s supposed to take someone as skilled as a Magic Tower Lord to use that kind of magic, right?”

“I’ve done some research on that, but in the days of the Orberg Empire, there were no mages like the ones we have now.”

“So you’re saying that the Empire created something that could blow up a kingdom without the need for a skilled mage, and Terry is looking for it?”

“Uh.”

“And that’s what’s over there?”

Seria pointed to the nobles’ villa.

“I don’t know if it’s exactly there. According to the information that came out of Viscount Bothaman’s mouth, it’s somewhere in the Marne Forest.”

At the end of the brief explanation.

Daylon picked up the discussion again.

“For now, we’ll split into two teams to monitor the compound. The monitoring objectives are to accurately count the enemy numbers, track the movements of the enemies, and verify if Terry is truly inside.”

“Okay.”

“Group one, Riena and Seria. Group two, me and Redin. We’ll take turns keeping surveillance, and the moment Terry shows his face, we’ll all go in together.”

Heather raised his hand.

“Then…. what am I supposed to do?”

“You keep yourself in condition so that you can use your magic at any time.”

“Alright!”

“Does anyone have any questions about this mission?”

The instruction was concise.

But there were a few things missing. Things that were not dangerous with knowledge, but dangerous without it.

He raised his hand to draw attention.

“There’s something you missed and didn’t mention.”

“What was it?”

“It’s about Maddie. She’s an explosive maniac, and I’m pretty sure she’s planted magic bombs around the compound.”

“Why would she plant them so close to the compound when she could have gotten her own people hurt?”

He remembered Maddie’s personality as revealed in the game.

-Explosions? It’s an art form.

For someone who loved magic more than anyone else, Maddie had a fatal flaw, namely the inability to use mana.

Her eyes were drawn to magic bombs.

She was mesmerized by the powerful explosions she could create without the use of magic.

-Terry? Money? I don’t need any of that. All I need is a super magic bomb.

When Terry is in trouble in the game.

Meddie chose the super magic bomb instead of saving Terry.

That shows how serious she is about explosions.

She’s probably excited to open the door to the Imperial Laboratory and do some research on supercharged bombs.

Unfortunately, there’s nothing in there for them.

The Imperial Laboratory in the Marne Forest is just another Imperial Laboratory that he knows about. The real one is somewhere else.

Soon, they’ll find out.

The rage of an overexcited crazed maniac will not discriminate between friend and foe.

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being cautious.”

“Okay. We’ll start with the first group right away. Let’s rotate every twelve hours.”

“Yes!”

A stone wall with the insignia of the Oberg Empire.

There were various lines and magic bombs hanging from it.

“It’s done.”

Maddie smiled with satisfaction as she looked at the masterpiece she had created. The culmination of everything she’d been working on.

This should be enough to destroy that stone door.

*Beep.* *Beep.*

*Beep.* *Beep.*

Her heart pounded at the beautiful melody emanating from the magic bomb, like a virtuoso musician playing.

“Hmph. Hehehe.”

Maddie hummed and wiped the grease from her hands onto her clothes. With a shaky motion, she reached for the fuse.

The fuse that connected all the magic bombs.

Slowly unwinding the wire, she stepped out and frowned at the sound of her men chattering outside.

“It’s hilarious.”

“Absolute ridiculous, Hehehe.”

It was an unmistakable mockery.

Maddie had definitely heard it.

All the inspiration and excitement in her head was shattered, and their voices began to echo.

‘I don’t know why Terry keeps that asshole around. She’s an idiot who doesn’t know how to do anything but make bombs.’

‘Fucking asshole. Whenever she thinks she’s better than me, I want to punch her in the fucking face.’

‘Asshole with no mana.’

*Crack.*

Gritting her teeth, the corner of her mouth twitched, and Maddie slowly opened her mouth.

“The two outside. Come inside for a minute.”

“Yes!”

The two men entered the cave and stared at Maddie. The smiles faded, and he swallowed nervously.

“You called for us.”

“What’s so funny.”

“What?”

“Why are you laughing?”

“Oh. Cobb peed his pants yesterday…….”

“That’s terrible.”

Biting her lip, Maddie pressed the switch in her hand.

*Boom!*

A small explosion erupted where the men were standing. The two men whose legs had been blown off screamed in pain, covered in blood.

“Arghhhh!”

” Ugh! Maddi…….”

“Do you think I don’t know that you guys have been laughing at me for a while now, For a long time now, whenever you see me, you secretly snicker. You must think I’m an asshole, don’t you?”

Maddie uncoiled the fuse and wrapped it around their necks. Then she slowly stepped out of the cave.

Keeping a decent distance.

She raised her head slowly and looked up into the dark sky, tongue licking her lips at the bright moon.

“Screw everything.”

*Click!*

She flicked the switch.

The tip of the fuse burned. The fire traveled along the line. A small scream echoed through the cave.

And then a moment later.

*BOOooooommm!!!*

*Rumble!* *Crash!* *Rumbles!* *Bang!* *Boom!* *Rumble!*

The ground shook violently with a huge explosion. Red flames poured out of the cave, followed by black smoke.

“Pfft.”

The corners of Maddie’s mouth twisted upward.

She pulled a gas mask over her face and stepped inside. The entire wall, which had previously carried the emblem of the Oberg Empire, was blasted open.

“The super magic bomb…… finally…….”

With joy and excitement, she entered the chamber.

A vast space opened up, revealing the Imperial Laboratory.

An empty room.

A desk with scorched marks on it.

Parchments fluttering on the floor.

Maddie ran around like a lunatic. She checked the desk and the scattered parchments on the floor, but there was no sign of even a superpowered bomb.

“Surely, there must be a……, but there’s no……..”

Terry had definitely said that.

There’s an Oberg Imperial laboratory in here, and surely there must be something on supercharged magic bombs.

“There’s nothing…… there’s no…… there’s nothin’ in here!”

Maddie balled her fists.

She’d spent hours pulling out all of her favorite items, only to find nothing inside.

She stood up and headed for the compound.

“Maddie?”

She dismissed the men blocking her way and entered the compound to find Terry drinking.

She walked up to him and grabbed him by the collar.

“You said there would be something there, something about a supermagic bomb, but there’s nothing!”

“Nothing?”

Terry frowned.

After Viscount Bothaman said he’d gotten the information from Hyde, he’d gone to the man himself and paid a fortune for it.

There was definitely something in there about supercharged bombs.

“Wait…..”

“Find it, now! Give me the supercharge magic bomb! Give it to me!”

“Stop whining!”

Terry pushed Maddie aside, sat up, and rubbed his forehead.

*Tirri-ri-ri-ri!*

He activated his communication orb, which echoed through the room, and heard the urgent voice of his subordinate.

-Captain, they said Viscount Bothaman has been arrested.

“What? What are you talking about?”

-I have only recently gotten the information, he was caught practicing black magic and has been arrested.

“By whom?”

-Redin. He probably spit out all the information about us, and you need to leave the area immediately.

*Boom!*

The sound of an explosion outside.

“Arrgghhhh!”

“Intruders!”

Terry turned and stared out the window. In the distance, he could see a familiar face among a large group of people approaching.

A rookie from Burning Hell.

The one he’d tried to kill, the one who’d slipped away like a loach, the one who’d cut off Barnes, his right-hand man.

In that moment.

The fragmented information in his head began to come together. When he put Redin’s name to what he couldn’t fathom, everything clicked into place.

The day he sent his men to kill Redin for the first time.

The Black Dragon Clan was wiped out.

Next, his right-hand man, Barnes, was captured in the neighboring Labyrinth City.

The plan to blow up Burning Hell was foiled.

Naturally, the men who had followed him began to distance themselves, leaving only Viscount Bothaman to rely on.

The Viscount was also captured by Redin.

‘Information from Hyde.’

Viscount Bothaman had given him information that he hadn’t gotten the first time, and when he visited again, the information was registered.

What if someone had intentionally leaked the information?

And what if it was Redin?

“Shit…”

His head pounded.

He gritted his teeth and trembled.

Anger surged through him, furious that he’d been reduced to a pawn in his game, a pawn that did as he pleased.

His eyes locked with Redin.

He was grinning broadly.

“This piece of… shit….”

He clenched his fists and grinded his teeth.

The rage bubbling up inside him wouldn’t subside.

It was all because of that bastard.

Redin, he had ruined all my plans. But even as he raged, a question lingered in the back of his mind.

‘How?’

How did he know about the plan in the first place?

“I’ll ask him.”

If he run away from here, he’d be as good as dead. Unable to fulfill his promise.

There’s only one way to live.

And that’s to catch Redin. That means getting him to tell him how the hell he found out about the plan and who the traitor to the organization is.

“I’ll show you hell.”

Terry pulled out the black mask in his pocket. Something he’d gotten in a deal with him. With this, he could dominate them all.

The mask emanated an aura of sinister energy.

One of the relics of the demonic cult, it has the power to take over the minds of its victims, forcing them into twisted nightmares.

Terry held it up to his face.

His eyes glowed red behind the mask, and he glared at his enemies as they rushed forward.

“Dream of despair, fools.”
