Survive as a Prison Guard in the Game

Chapter 91 - Count Dante (1)

Chapter 91
Count Dante (1)

Count Dante’s Castle.

A grand castle nestled in the forest.

A man in crimson clothes opened the curtains and gazed out the window. Count Dante with a pale appearance. Looking at the moon in the sky, he softly closed his eyes.

“Hmph.”

An ultrasonic wave emanated from all directions.

Thousands and thousands of pulses converged one by one, producing a visual in his mind.

A huge building built inside an enclosure.

He could see the nobles that gathered there, and the subordinates that organized the event, gathering the children of the nobility on the continent.

In addition,

Members of the Cerberus organization sent from Burning Hell had arrived at the site of the party. Count Dante’s mouth curled at the sight of them.

“They know I’m a vampire?

It was clear that there was a traitor within his ranks.

Not a mere suspicion, but a certainty.

The only ones who were privy to the truth were those who had been turned and made into vampires by him. The knowledge was so thoroughly kept secret that not even their longtime partner, the captain of the Magnes, would know.

“Hmph…….”

Except for one.

He had information that someone he’d been in contact with recently was a vampire, but he was definitely not the type to divulge it.

‘I guess I’ll find out when I get to speak to him in person.’

He refocused back on the party.

The members of Cerberus’ organization looked tense, but at the same time filled with confidence.

‘Foolish bastards.’

It wasn’t the first time he’d seen such a group.

Dozens of Burning Hell prison guards had visited the estate before, and all of them had died as a result of being sacrificed.

“They’ll make fine human sacrifices for me this time.”

Although he didn’t know the strength of each individual, what he had heard from the traitor was that they were quite skilled.

Especially the vice captain of the group.

A Hound of Burning Hell.

Redin.

He was estimated to be at least an Expert, and someone of his caliber is hard to come by.

To Count Dante, he was a treasure that had fallen from the sky.

‘Soon…..’

A major transition will take place.

A night when that process will come to an end.

A toast would be made with Redin’s blood.

Something to celebrate the coming event.

Count Dante watched the battle unfold at the party. Even as his subjects were being overwhelmed, his smile never faded.

All of this had been planned.

After all, time was on his side.

“It’s always satisfying to see them struggle.”

Vampires spread throughout the Count’s territory.

And a reliable and elite group of vampires to lead them.

They’ll be the ones to buy him time.

Even if they managed to kill all the vampires, it wouldn’t have mattered greatly. By the time they got here, the great transformation would be complete.

“Drea, Rueve, Ares. Feel free to kill all of them except for Redin. Bring him back alive.”

He smiled as he watched his subordinates scattered throughout the county, heads bowed in deference, beginning to move quickly.

“I’m looking forward to it.”

How sweet the taste of Redin’s blood would be.

After making certain that the premises have been cleared, him and Fabian are on their way out of town.

Darkness descended.

The moon was gone from the sky.

In its place, a red moon rose.

Looking at the eerie red sky, all the energy in his body was sapped away, and a deep sense of lethargy overtook him.

A very familiar sight in the game.

One of Count Dante’s abilities, the Blood Moon, is a technique that sucks the life energy out of all living things in an area.

In the presence of that moon, his physical abilities were drastically reduced.

Using the power of purification to combat the effects.

“Everyone, drink the holy water.”

He gazed at the red moon overhead.

Beneath that moon. There, he would find Count Dante.

The heart of all evil.

There is only one way to resolve what happened in this place. To capture Count Dante and expose the whole truth of this place.

If he could let it be known that the Darkness Seven are behind him, there would be no chance of a schism that would tear the Kingdoms apart.

“Fabian, bring the horse from the carriage we rode in. Give them holy water and they’ll be fine.”

“We don’t have any more Holy Water.”

“Grab what Luke has on him.”

He watched Fabian move and he retrieved the [Watcher’s Eye] from his subspace pouch.

Count Dante would never have used the Blood Moon for no reason.

Raising the telescope, he scanned the area around him, and there were vampires coming at them from all directions.

Leading them were three figures.

The remaining of the Four Heavenly Kings under Count Dante’s command. The three faces were familiar. He recognized them from the game.

Drea, Rueve, and Ares.

He remembered what they looked like and their abilities, and prepared himself for the impending skirmish.

“Hold out as long as you can. Our reinforcements are on their way.”

“Reinforcements?”

Riena asked.

“Yes. I knew this would happen, and I’ve asked the Holy Empire for help.”

A specific person, to be more precise.

He didn’t elaborate on that.

*Ooooh!*

Arrakis’s Eyes were triggered by the sensation of dense killing intent. At the sight of them, he unsheathed his sword from its scabbard.

“They’re coming.”

He dashed forward.

There were approximately a hundred vampires.

If the number of normal vampires, excluding the Four Heavenly Kings, was greatly reduced, it would be much easier for Cerberus to hold out against them.

Enemies rushed from outside the walls.

Their sharp teeth were bared from the effects of the Blood Moon, and their scarlet eyes flared against their pale faces.

He charged his sword with mana.

Lowering his stance, he concentrated on channeling his mana.

Holding onto the mana as it flowed through the sword, he imbued it with purifying energy.

“Huu…”

“You can kill all of them except that guy.”

Ordered Ares, one of the Four Heavenly Kings, from behind.

At the same time, he extended his right leg upon seeing the oncoming vampires. Rotating his body, he unleashed the concentrated force stored in the sword all at once.

*Whooooosssshhhh!!*

A three-pronged white gust of wind.

The gusts of purifying power swept through the vampires in front of him.

*Kaaaaaah!*

The vampires that couldn’t withstand the powerful force burst into flames, instantly reducing their numbers to less than half.

The ground was smeared with blood.

Those that survived continued past him, continuing towards Cerberus. They should be able to hold their own in such numbers.

“I’ll take him out first.”

What we need to focus on from now on are the people in front of him, not the distractions.

A hulking man stepped forward. His muscles twitched with every movement.

He seemed relaxed, craning his neck from side to side and flexing his hands.

“Come at me.”

Drea.

A vampire with destructive physical abilities.

If one gets caught in his massive hands, their limbs will simply crumble.

Out of the corner of his eye, he glanced at the other two behind him.

A man and a woman, standing still, watching the situation. Rueve, Ares. From the looks of it, they didn’t look like they were going to join the fight.

Do they really think Drea alone can handle me?

“If you wait like that, you’ll kill everyone in there.”

Drea traced a line across his throat with the tip of his finger.

“Really?”

This is not a situation that can be solved by merely remaining idle. If any of the Four Heavenly Kings made it to Cerberus’ side, the fallout would be devastating.

With a swift swipe, he aimed for Drea’s throat.

His sword sliced through empty air.

Drea dodged the blade and as he leaned back. Moving forward in step once more, he aimed for Drea’s exposed gap.

He took a stabbing stance, anticipating the opening.

But there was no crack.

Like a giant wall, Drea waited for him to come into his reach. With the last of his mana, he swung his sword.

Thrust and slash.

He kept pressing on.

*Swipe!*

A mobility not suited to someone of his size. Drea leisurely dodged the blade, but didn’t retaliate.

He wonders when he’ll strike.

He had to be constantly on his guard.

So he let his attack lapse. Excessive movement, deliberately swinging the sword to catch him off guard by feigning exhaustion.

Drea smirked.

With a nonsensical glance, he shifted his body, a swift movement that rivaled that of a gale slash. Drea was on him in a flash, his hand outstretched.

Swinging the sword at him.

Drea ducked the strike, by leaping off the ground, and tried to grab hold of him. Using his [Fairy Wings], he created some space between them.

Steadying his breathing, he looked at Drea.

This is a battle of probing, not all-out combat.

If he saw an opportunity while probing, he’d go for it. He hid his true abilities carefully.

Drea wrinkled his nose and shook his head.

“What, you’re actually tired? I haven’t even had a proper fight yet, and this is boring.”

“You’ll never catch me if I get serious.”

“That’s not for you to say, that’s for me to say.”

Drea looked away for a moment.

“I’m really annoyed at how we’re doing this, so can I play with him for a while?”

“Sure. Just don’t kill him.”

Ares agreed.

With that, Drea’s momentum shifted.

Fangs bared at the corners of his mouth, like all vampires, and his eyes flashed red, causing his veins to bulge on his arms and legs.

“Ugh!”

Drea, whose head was shaking, looked up at him with a gleeful expression.

“Don’t scream when you get hit.”

He snapped.

Fishing out an elixir from his subspace pouch, he poured it into his mouth and brought his sword up again.

“Come at me.”

Drea stalked toward him, moving noiselessly.

Gone were the quick, fluid movements, replaced by a massive boulder of stone.

Raw and intimidating, a feeling that sent shivers down one’s spine.

He lunged at Drea, his sword filled with purifying power. With a flurry of slashes, he approached the vampire and swung his sword.

*Clang!*

The man’s reddened arms were as hard as iron. He pulled his sword back and used Storm Slash.

Mana concentrated to the extreme.

An aura blade that took the form of a sword.

Drea whose eyes shook for a moment before disappearing from sight. The first strike of Storm Slash sliced through the air.

Immediately, he gathered his mana and searched for the vampire.

Spinning around briskly, but he couldn’t see him, until he felt something from above and he activated his fairy wings once more.

And just as he pulled himself away.

*Craassssshh!!!*

Drea’s figure struck the ground, smashing through the area. The ground quaked around him, leaving a crater.

Drea gritted his teeth and looked at Ares behind him.

“This bastard is wielding an Aura Blade?”

“The Count told us to be careful.”

“Damn. That almost got me killed.”

“Fall back. If you keep fighting like that, you’ll kill the sacrifice. Rueve, you deal with him.”

Hearing their conversation, he frowned.

From the beginning to now.

Nothing about their behavior seemed quite right. Rather than wanting to kill him or subdue him, they seemed to be stalling for time.

They weren’t even aggressive in combat.

Even the enthusiastic Drea snaps back.

He was curious why they were dragging out the fight.

Even now, at this moment, when they’re deliberately leaving gaps. These guys appear not focused on the battle, and instead appear to be stalling for time.

Count Dante….

A power that is still incomplete….

What if the day he has that power is today, and that’s why he needed some time to be undisturbed?

-The blood of a strong man, unmarred, is like the finest wine to me. Something to be savored on the most joyous of occasions.

A line from Count Dante, a pureblood vampire.

That’s why the Four Heavenly Kings are not actively fighting against him.

He was being treated like a celebratory drink to Count Dante when he became a pureblood. And he was also dragging things out.

“Huuu…..”

Part of him wanted to save this until he met Count Dante, but the anger he was feeling right now was deep.

He must prevent Count Dante from becoming a pureblood.

He stared at them, while his fingers twirled around the Archmage’s Desire in his subspace pouch.

“I’m going to fight you all seriously now and kill everyone.”
