The Bad Boy's Promise

Chapter 30: Home - I

She had no clue for how long the lady had driven or if she had stopped in the middle of the way but the only time Victoria woke up was when the kind and helpful lady shook her.

"We are at the hospital, love, come on." Just as victorious blurry eyes got a clear shot of the woman's face, it was replaced by two men dressed in hospital clothes that helped her out before putting her on a stretcher.

Just as Victoria thought that her vision would finally clear up, she felt herself going back and forth with sleep as the haze clouded her mind.

Many people talked around her, about her and then what had happened to her. None of which she could comprehend completely. The sleep was too powerful and it was only a matter of time before she gave into it, shushing out everything else but peace.

*****

A constant annoying beeping, the smell of medicines and never forgetting to mention, the smell of cleaning supplies. It was all too familiar for her, just the smell good tell her without opening her eyes that she was in the hospital.

Slowly she opened her eyes that were jammed shut with sleep and tiredness. She was in a small room, but it was private and the machines around her were the only evidence that she was more damaged by them than she had originally thought.

Her eyes went around the room once again to find someone in particular but the room was bare of any human presence apart from her. Where were her parents? Were they even informed?

The machines were all around her but none of them were connected apart from an IV needle that Victoria, very carefully, pulled out of her skin before moving around the bed and opening the door to her room.

No, no one was in the waiting area as well for her.

Where were they? Have the police even informed them?

She had taken the shoes that were kept right beside her bed and this time, the hospital had thankfully given her a closed gown.

With that in mind she said forward to the hospital exit when she saw numerous people coming out of the room.

Out of curiosity, Victoria peeked into the room through the glass world only to find the boy hooked up with a lot of machines, much more than her and staring at a woman.

Must be his mother..

Just as she was about to look and walk away, his head turned towards her and their eyes met.

For the first time she did not see the cold look on his face but of a lost boy, just like her. Someone who had suffered an entire ordeal they had nothing to do with.

Pulling on a brave face, she raised her hand and waved at him.

His lips quivered upwards before his mother demanded his attention again. The moment his head turned towards his mother, Victoria walked away.

This was the hospital that her mother worked in which reminded her that they were not far away from it.

It was walking distance, but the bus also could be taken easily and at the moment since Victoria had no money on her the only option she had left was to walk home.
