Mii-chan’s Otherworldly Travelogue: Chapter 1
Hi, I’m Mii-chan. When I became aware, I was in the arms of a god.
I don’t really remember much from before that.
According to the god, I had been abandoned as a baby. At that time, a stray cat lady happened to pass by and tried to feed me, but she didn’t have much milk, and I ended up starving to death.
The god who saw that revived me as a divine servant.
The god takes very good care of me, giving me lots of delicious food, so I really love it here.
In this celestial realm, besides my god, there are other gods who each have their own pets. The neighboring gods have dogs and cows, and I get along well with them.
But it seems that I’m the only one who’s a divine servant. The dogs and cows are, apparently, divine messengers or favorites of the gods. I don’t really understand what makes me different.
One thing that is different is that I can go anywhere I want. Even so, there was one place I couldn’t go in this celestial realm.
That place is the path to descend from the celestial realm to the lower world. There’s a gatekeeper bunny there who wouldn’t let me through.
I really wanted to go down to the lower world. So, I started bringing the bunny its favorite carrots every day as a gift, and eventually, it started letting me pass. Now I can freely go to the lower world.
Of course, I want to go to Japan, where I was born. I want to meet my mama and ask her something. Why did she abandon me?
I don’t hold a grudge against my mama for giving birth to me. I’m very happy now.
“Hey, lady. Do you know where Mii-chan’s mama is?”
“No, I don’t know.”
“That’s too bad…”
“Little girl, where did you come from? I don’t think I’ve seen you before.”
I asked the cat lady who was basking in the sun on the fence, but she didn’t know.
“Hey, mister. Do you know where Mii-chan’s mama is?”
“Tch, a kid, huh? This is my territory! I won’t go easy on you just because you’re a kid!”
Wah! I’m scared! Be nice to me! Mii-chan isn’t a bad kid!
I tried to look for my mama whenever I had free time, but I couldn’t find her.
There are nice people in the lower world, but there are also many scary ones. Especially the “bubbu” (cars)—they don’t stop even when you ask them to. I’ve had painful collisions with them a few times. It hurts a lot when you get hit, but after a while, it doesn’t hurt at all.
It’s an ability called immortality, according to the god.
It’s convenient, but sometimes it’s really tough. I once fell into a pond while chasing a fluttering thing. I can’t swim, so I was struggling in the water, bubbling and then falling asleep. When I woke up, I’d start bubbling again and then fall asleep. I kept repeating this over and over. It was even worse than getting scolded by the god.
The mama who saved me from the pond was very kind. So when I thanked her, she said,
