Chapter 10: 10 A Twinge of Jealousy
As soon as the winter came, the whole mountain and forest would be covered in heavy snow, and the beasts would hibernate, causing the number of prey to plummet.
The harsh cold and lack of food would claim the lives of numerous werewolves. So werewolves would prepare an ample supply of food before the winter.
But this year's winter had come a month earlier, leaving Andrew very little time to prepare.
If he was still single, he could barely get by on his own, but things were different now, as he had his Olivia.
He needed a lot of food and a very warm and safe shelter to ensure Olivia's safety through the winter.
Bert said, "This winter is not only early but might also be the coldest one in history. I kindly suggest you stay and leave after the winter is over. Otherwise, your Olivia might very well suffer from chilliness or hunger."
The Wolf tribe's settlement was located on a high rocky mountain, the highest in a hundred miles around. Even when winter came, this place wouldn't be buried in deep snow.
Plus, with so many wolf tribe members here, other smaller tribes wouldn't dare to attack easily.
It was indeed an ideal place to spend the winter.
Andrew hesitated, Bert's proposal was tempting, but there was no free lunch.
Bert wanted them to stay mainly because he had his eyes on Olivia.
Andrew didn't want to share his Olivia with anyone, but he couldn't bear the thought of her suffering from chilliness or hunger.
Looking at Olivia's trusting gaze, he finally decided, "We'll stay and spend the winter here."
Nothing was more important than Olivia's safety!
Bert smiled in satisfaction, "I'll show you where to stay for the winter."
Moon's voice appeared,
"Please prepare a big and warm house equipped with a bed, table, chairs and other furniture to welcome the winter. "
Bert said, "You can choose any place you like to dig a house, as big as you wish, as long as you don't dig into someone else's home."
Andrew picked a very secluded corner.
There were no werewolves nearby, making it very quiet and suitable.
He asked Olivia to sit and rest, then transformed into a large wolf and started digging with his claws.
His claws were sharp, and the sturdy rock was a piece of cake in front of Andrew's claws.
In just a short while, Andrew excavated a big cave.
Olivia walked inside and pointed to the front wall, "Dig two smaller caves here."
Andrew continued digging.
After digging the caves, Andrew smoothed the walls and floor to prevent Olivia from being cut by sharp stones.
The big cave was used as the kitchen and living room, the two small rooms were used as their bedrooms.
Now, they needed to consider how to make the furniture.
It was still in the Stone Age, and most of the items used were made from stone.
But Olivia thought stone too cumbersome, so she decided to make furniture with wood!
"Let's cut the trees to make furniture!"
Andrew looked at her indulgently, thinking of chopping down trees as her playful act.
Andrew remained in his wolf form, carrying Olivia out of the room.
But to their surprise, a new cave had appeared next door.
When they first arrived, there was no one living there, so how could a cave suddenly appear?
Just as Olivia was puzzled, Bill went from the cave.
Olivia widened her eyes, "Why are you here?"
Bill crossed his arms, looking smug, "Why can't I be here? All this mountains are my place."
"You'll live here?" Olivia asked in shock.
"Of course, I like living here."
Olivia glared at him and then turned to Andrew, "Let's go, ignore this nuisance."
Watching Olivia disappear around the corner, Bill furrowed his brows irritably.
He was happy to learn Olivia would stay there from Bert, so he dug a cave next to hers.
But as he calmed down, he found his behavior ridiculous.
He disliked the females, so why did he eagerly become her neighbor?
Was it just to catch a glimpse of her every day?
That seemed so foolish!
As Bill scorned himself inwardly, he walked in the direction Olivia had left.
Andrew chopped down several trees in a row under Olivia's command. He peeled off the bark and cut the trees into evenly lengthy with his claws.
He placed the polished wooden in front of Olivia and asked, "Is this okay?"
Olivia nodded satisfiedly and stroked his furry head, "Very good! Andrew, you're amazing!"
Andrew felt comfortable being petted and was delighted by her praise and kissed her forehead.
Watching from a distance, Bill felt a twinge of jealousy.
His strong arms instantly transformed into a wolf's forelimbs with sharp claws.
Chopping down trees and cutting wood was easy, and he was sure he could do better than Andrew.
Why couldn't Olivia come to ask for his help?
