Wanda Maximoff Multiversal Harem Hunter

Chapter 26: The Fall Of The Citadel Pt. 1

The Hydra bunker loomed before them like the entrance to a forgotten underworld, its steel walls glowing faintly with green light from the devices mounted along its edges. Wanda Maximoff and Eska Vryn stood at the threshold, their breaths steady but tense. The distant hum of machinery and the oppressive stillness of the air set an ominous tone.

"Well," Eska muttered, raising her rifle as her gaze swept the entryway. "This looks like an absolute nightmare."

"Hydra's not known for pleasant surprises," Wanda replied, the Chitauri Scepter humming faintly in her hand. Her symbiote suit shimmered, its crimson veins pulsing in the dim light. "Although I must admit, their decorating style is consistent."

Fracture's voice slithered into Wanda's mind, her tone laced with disdain. "Humans and their machines. They think these tricks will save them."

"They're welcome to try," Wanda said softly, her crimson eyes narrowing as movement flickered in the shadows ahead.

A squad of Hydra soldiers emerged, their glowing eyes and precise movements making them look more like marionettes than men. Mounted along the walls were devices pulsing with a rhythmic frequency, the sound creeping into Wanda's mind like an itch she couldn't scratch.

"That's new," Wanda muttered, wincing as the frequency intensified.

"What is it?" Eska asked, noticing Wanda faltering.

"They're scrambling me," Wanda said, her frustration bubbling as she tried to summon her chaos magic. The energy flickered and fizzled, unable to take form. "I can't focus."

Eska's jaw tightened as she fired a burst of shots at the approaching soldiers. "Looks like Hydra came prepared for you."

The first soldier charged forward, his movements unnervingly fast. Wanda raised the scepter, deflecting his attack and slamming him to the ground. But more followed, their strikes coordinated as if guided by a single mind. The oppressive hum of the modulators gnawed at Wanda's concentration, making every movement feel sluggish.

"These guys are different," Eska said, ducking under a swing and countering with a precise shot to the chest. "They're not reacting like normal soldiers."

Fracture's voice hissed in Wanda's mind, sharp and cutting. **"Because they're not. They're puppets, Wanda—mindless drones controlled by others."**

Wanda gritted her teeth, her frustration mounting. "That's just perfect."

One of the soldiers lunged at Eska, a blade glinting in his hand. She sidestepped, slamming the butt of her rifle into his head. "Puppets or not, they're relentless."

The frequency modulators pulsed faster as more soldiers poured into the entryway. One broke from the group, his movements frantic as he activated a device strapped to his chest. A high-pitched whine filled the air as he sprinted toward Wanda and Eska.

"Suicide bomber!" Eska shouted, diving for cover.

Wanda turned to intercept, but the soldier detonated before she could react. The explosion sent her flying backward, her symbiote suit absorbing most of the impact but not enough to stop her from crashing into the wall. The force of the blast left a gaping hole in the steel, and Wanda slumped into the debris.

Eska peeked out from cover, her eyes widening as she saw Wanda crawl out of the wreckage. "Walk it off. You'll be fine."

Wanda groaned, brushing dust off her suit. "That felt like my last hangover."

Fracture's voice purred, her tone both amused and scornful. **"A mere human bomb can't breach my defenses, Wanda. You're still in one piece."**

"Thanks for the pep talk," Wanda muttered, gripping the scepter tightly as another wave of soldiers advanced.

The battle intensified as more suicide bombers broke from the ranks, their devices glowing ominously. Eska moved with precision, taking down several with well-placed shots before they could detonate. Wanda waded into the fray, using the scepter as both a staff and a spear to dispatch the relentless soldiers.

"Stop running at me!" Wanda shouted, swinging the scepter to knock a bomber off his feet. The device on his chest fizzled harmlessly as Fracture's tendrils wrapped around him, crushing it.

**"They lack creativity,"** Fracture hissed, her tone dripping with disdain. **"Just mindless drones, following orders. Pitiful."**

Eska lobbed a grenade into the group, the explosion clearing a path. "They're not stopping. Hydra's throwing everything at us."

"Then let's throw it back," Wanda replied, her symbiote-enhanced strength shattering a soldier's armor as she drove the scepter into his chest.

The oppressive frequency continued to sap Wanda's focus, forcing her to rely on brute strength and instinct. Her movements became heavier, her strikes less precise as the battle dragged on. A soldier caught her off guard, his blade slicing through the air toward her. She barely managed to block it with the scepter, the impact sending a jolt through her arms.

Fracture's voice cut through the chaos, sharp and scathing. **"You're weak, Wanda. Pathetic. Your strength is laughable."**

"I'm working on it," Wanda snapped, using the scepter to knock the soldier back. "A little help would be nice."

**"Help?"** Fracture retorted. **"After this fight, I'll train you until you drop dead—then bring you back to train more. I've removed your human limits. It's time you realized what that means."**

Eska destroyed another modulator, the frequency faltering for a moment before resuming. "These things are everywhere," she said, her voice tight. "Hydra was ready for us."

"Yeah, well, they're cheaters," Wanda muttered, driving the scepter into another soldier's chest. "Who brings anti-magic devices to a fistfight?"

"Hydra does," Eska replied, firing at another bomber. "And apparently, they're good at it."

Wanda deflected another attack, her frustration mounting as the modulators continued to disrupt her magic. "I need to train," she said suddenly, her voice firm.

Eska blinked. "What?"

"My body," Wanda clarified, slamming the scepter into the ground to create a shockwave. "I've relied on my magic for too long. If Hydra can block it, I need to be ready to fight without it."

Eska smirked faintly. "Welcome to the real world. We call that 'being prepared.'"

The final soldier fell, his device sparking as Wanda's symbiote claws tore it from his chest. The entryway was littered with the remains of the battle, but the modulators on the walls still hummed faintly, their effects lingering.

Wanda leaned on the scepter, her breathing heavy. "That was just the entryway. We barely made it ten feet."

Eska reloaded her rifle, her expression grim. "This place is going to be hell."

"Good," Wanda said, her eyes glinting with determination. "Because I'm not done yet."

Fracture's voice softened, her tone almost reverent. **"You'll grow stronger, Wanda. This is just the beginning. But you must embrace what I've given you. Only then will you reach your true potential."**

Wanda nodded, her grip on the scepter tightening. "Then let's get to work."

With the modulators still pulsing faintly, and more horrors waiting ahead, Wanda and Eska pressed deeper into the Citadel, the weight of the battle heavy on their shoulders but their resolve burning brighter than ever.
