Young Justice: The Werewolf

Chapter 2: The Facility Part 2

*Dr. Malcolm Conner POV*

*Location: Three Miles below Alaskan Wilderness*

*Date: July 21st, 2009*

It had been two years, two years worth of facility expansions, subject testing, and creation. I had been promoted to Lead of Genetics and Testing Position, with my former colleague Alena being promoted to I think the head of Medical or at least their number two, the only reason I had even was lead of a division of my own, was the fact it was a new one.

All the while one Dr. Rosa well had a mental breakdown, or at least that's what the company told us but over the years, we've had a plethora of subjects both willing and unwilling. I couldn't be there for everyone or Alena, so she might have been a still-living test subject or a dead one. It would be an interesting time if I discovered that was ever the case or it wouldn't be.

Over the years I discovered that I had...changed, become more like the people this facility hired, and let loose on the test subjects. I had grown more distant, cold, and cruel to the people we tested on, experimented on, and permanently altered. I stopped caring about them as much and more about the results.

Well, it was always possible that being surrounded by people like them would eventually influence my own personality and mentality.

I walked through the facility, clipboard in hand last a few coworkers who were hurrying down the hallway or waved at me, trying to make small talk. I did talk with them a little bit, bright-minded people who probably didn't know what they were doing all this time, or had never seen the unchanging Subject M. It was nice talking to them, to see what I once was before the change.

I eventually made my way to the now-main laboratory, where the first transformed subject was created, which had since then expanded. We had an entire testing room dedicated to seeing how far we could push the subjects physically and put them either against a series of challenges or an opponent decided by the head of this facility.

While the overall transfer process of genes into human test subjects had been improved significantly, but not so much the results. Which was essentially random on whether or not the subject even gained the basic enchantments Subject M had, but over the years we had a plethora of subjects with what I think was called the...metagene. An interesting little genome that made results fascinating, gifting amazing abilities alongside the werewolf abilities.

It was a gamble whether or not they were fully enhanced at all though, but still, it made an interesting time seeing the results. I even think we had a werewolf almost entirely made up of rocks and fur at one point. I would've loved to see the pictures but well no cellphones allowed and even if you somehow sneaked it in, well the facility stopped any outgoing messages.

Well beyond a few devices the facility used to communicate with the company leaders, scientists, and anyone else in the know.

Entering I was greeted by a few medical personnel who were wearing white masks, gloves, and clothing. Well, I was also wearing something like that alongside some specialized goggles and a few of my own personal tools. Things I had specifically designed over the years to do my own exam on the subjects, to try and gain a deeper understanding of them.

It was a fascinating process of how they eventually came into creation, to how my sick mind created them. One of the tools was a small little thing with a thin blade at the end that had a saw-like edge, one made to cut into the flesh of enhanced individuals. Best for when making small incisions into a test subject or whenever we need a larger sample of Subject M.

Strapped to a table with much stronger restraints was a thin sickly sickly-looking hairless man, this time a willing test subject we had knocked out. Just so we can make sure the process was as smooth as possible.

Honestly speaking I didn't know why it took two years for whoever does this work to find us a willing or unwilling chemo patient. I would think testing the regeneration effects on the sick would be one of the first priorities. To try and understand how both the sickness and regenerative abilities combated each other, would it make the cancer growth worse or would it eventually eliminate the cancer growth?

Well as one of the medical professionals grabbed Subject M's blood, I grabbed a few different colored liquids. One small batch of a green substance and one yellow substance, one was probably a binding agent of some kind, designed to create a stable fusion of the werewolf blood and whatever the second one would do.

Honestly, I didn't know why they were such a tightly kept secret, if the facility had a deeper understanding of the substance we could figure out how to improve them. Oh well, it didn't matter, because soon enough all three were injected into him and the transformation soon started.

The sickly man began growing short gray hair, and then his head was covered as it just kept growing longer and longer. It did stop eventually but not before their eyebrows grew to a well large portion and his nails both on his hands/feet started, and eventually they somehow sharpened themselves.

While they didn't gain much muscle mass, they did start to look better and they didn't even thrash around like most test subjects. Taking a closer look at them and opening up their eyelids, I took a look at their pupils which responded like a normal pupil. I then went through a series of examinations alongside my small medical team, to do the routine medical examination at least our part of it.

Once we were all done, a team of guards entered alongside two people who were rolling in a stretcher. They slowly got him off the operating table and onto the stretcher, strapping him down and wheeling him to the elevator, connected to the large room.

Meaning that for some reason the company wanted to do part two right away, which confused me as I looked over the papers that didn't detail any of this. Heck even looking over the name of the test subject they just put a question mark alongside the number, which was Number 1 for some reason.

It was so strange and while they did have some basic medical stuff, there was nothing to indicate the man's identity. Eventually, I just put it down and approached the window connected to the testing chamber, as the four people wheeled him and gently put the man on the floor. I then saw the faint glint of a small syringe as one of the non-security personnel injected him with what I was guessing was a chemical cocktail to wake the man up.

This was odd because most of the time unless in very specific situations they would normally just leave them there, and just wait for them to wake up. Then again this whole thing wasn't standard procedure at this point and I just went with the flow.

As the man woke up disoriented, he looked around and then at himself but before I could use the intercom someone else hijacked it. They were using an old model or something because their voice sounded disoriented.

"Son, are you awake, if so please speak loudly so that I can hear you tell me how you feel."

"Do you feel stronger, healthier, any positive or well hopefully not negative change?"

Getting up Subject 1, looked at himself feeling his newly transformed body, and then his look, his entire face darkened as I could tell he was angry. He could tell that whatever happened to him was irreversible and it was clear at this point that he was an unwilling subject. With a somewhat deep voice and a growl alongside it, he shouted, his voice almost sonic-like, cracking the class a tiny bit.

"What did you do to me!"

"You turned me into a monster, a freak, and w-w-where the hell am I anyway!?"

Me and my team took a step back as the glass continued to break a tiny bit not wanting to get seen by a possibly volatile subject. Honestly, though this new information, the fact that his voice resembled a sonic weapon was fascinating as most previous test subjects never displayed such a thing. It also meant we would need new reinforced glass.

"I'll kill you!"

Then before he could do anything a dart went into his neck, alongside a dozen more yet he took a step forward. No, he took a dozen as he tried finding a way out not noticing the glass at first, eventually though the tranquilizer darts worked their magic.

Yet I smiled seeing this, as the previous four people went inside and wheeled the man out to god knows where.

*Muzuka POV*

*Location: Secondary Laboratory*

Darkness was all I saw, for so long I shuffled through my memories trying to understand them. Yet all I truly remembered was my name, Muzuka, a werewolf, and everything else though was just a blur.

I wanted to wake up, to understand what had happened to me, to try and figure out who I was. Yet my body refused to move, even then I felt perfectly fine, I just couldn't. Then I heard, a howl, it felt familiar as though I heard that somewhere before and my eye slowly opened.
